The problem
Water settles at the bottom of every fuel tank, creating a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. These microbes degrade fuel quality and damage infrastructure through biofouling and corrosion.
Conventional biocides are highly toxic and dosed by volume, so the entire tank must be treated, which is expensive and wasteful.
Biocides wear off with time and fuel turnover, requiring repeat treatments, monitoring, and testing.
When biocides fail, contaminated fuel may damage the infrastructure (filters, injectors, sensors, etc.) and costly polishing or disposal of fuel is needed.
Our solution
Locacide, short for local biocide, works only where contamination begins: the fuel-water interface. By self assembling at this boundary, it stops microbial growth at the source, without treating the whole tank.
